941 PM: In the wake of the initial round of showers, a cluster of severe storms has been pushing eastward along the MD/PA border. A mixture of Severe Thunderstorm (yellow) and Tornado Warnings (red) have persisted. This has also spread additional cloud cover over the area.

Last nights highest geomagnetic storm activity peaked around 1230 or 1a — and we have seen some folks got aurora pics in mountains of Virginia around then. Yes, it came earlier than forecast but really hard to time this. We’ll have more info on forecast for tonight to come.

11:35p: This line of intense storms is now reaching central Montgomery and Fairfax counties and will continue to plow southeast through the DC metro. Dangerous lightning with these storms, so if you’re outside, make sure you get inside if you hear thunder.
