The official polyamory flag uses four colors with specific meanings: Blue represents the openness and honesty among all partners. Red represents love and passion. Black represents solidarity with those who must hide those relationships from the outside world.

The site goes on to say that the new flag, “takes the best of the original flag, including its color symbolism, and improves on those elements of the Pi flag which alienated viewers. A white chevron flows outward to depict the growth and possibility of the non-monogamous community.

The pi symbol references the word 'polyamory' as it also starts with 'p'; and the gold of the pi symbol represents the value placed on emotional attachment (friendly and/or romantic), not just physical connections. Jim Evans created this flag in the early days of the internet with limited tools available to him.

Polysexual Pride Flag Pink: Represents attraction to female-identified people. Green: Represents attraction to people who identify outside the traditional male-female binary. Blue: Represents attraction to male-identified people.
