There's been some buzz about this out there, but I can confirm that #Braves No. 5 prospect Owen Murphy is indeed having Tommy John surgery.

Additionally, the #Braves also signed OF Ramon Laureano to a MiLB deal today and he's in the lineup for the @GoStripers at Norfolk tonight. Laureano has played parts of 7 MLB seasons with Oakland and Cleveland, and was released by the Guardians on May 25.

#Braves pitching prospect Owen Murphy will have Tommy John surgery, ending what had been a terrific early season for the 20-year-old. He had a 1.54 ERA in 7 starts at High-A Rome w/ 60 Ks & 12 walks in 41 innings. Murphy was a 1st-round pick in 2022 out of an Illinois high school
